Well, the other night we had good ol' Ben and Becca over to hang out. (We love them.) They were watching Emery do her awesome new trick ‒ roll across the floor because she has finally figured out that it gets her places ‒ when Ben says, "That must suck."
"What?" I ask.
"Really, really wanting to move around and that being the only way she can do it. It must suck."
"Whatever Ben," I responded as I sometimes to do him and his attitude. Just kidding Ben :) All in all it was just a comment about a baby doing what babies do.
But later it hit me. It probably does suck. I mean, how often do you see people rolling down the sidewalk, and for that matter, it's a sidewalk not a sideroll. If rolling was totally awesome and the best method of transportation EVER, why would anyone ever learn to crawl and then walk?!
And that thought brought me comfort in my trials. It brought me comfort because I realized, or maybe re-remembered, that Heavenly Father makes things suck sometimes so we can learn things and grow. We are given opposition in all things so that we can know the good stuff when we have it, and HECK! I sure do have a lot of good stuff. Just look at these two!

It makes my heart so full. Plus, David and I have great friends. If we didn't, we wouldn't have had someone to tell me how bad rolling sucks in the first place. ;) I'm so grateful to know that God answers my prayers and sends me comfort... even in the funniest of ways.

I needed that thought today too. Thanks for sharing. I'm sorry things have been so sucky lately. :( If there's ever anything I can do, let me know. Good luck...
There's an obscure little song that I like to sing when life sucks, like it does right now. *Life's gonna suck when you grow up, you grow up, you grow up. Life's gonna suck when you grow up. It sucks pretty bad right now...* I would sing it for you, but that would only make things worse. :) Hang in there!
Aww I love this post, Friend. I wish I could make things better. I hope you got my card. I love you so so much!
